DURHAM, NC – The Shaw University men's soccer team faced a challenging match against Belmont Abbey College, suffering a 2-0 defeat at home.
Shaw falls to 4-9 overall on the season with the loss.
The Crusaders struck twice in the first 25 minutes of action to build a 2-0 lead with goals in the fourth minute followed by a well executed throw in in the 24 minute. Shaw had a couple of chances midway in the second half to carve into the lead but were shut away by the Belmont Abbey keeper.
The Bears offense lagged all contest only logging in seven total shots compared to 15 from Belmont Abbey.
The Bears were more of the aggressor during the match being called for 13 fouls while the Crusaders were whistled for eight fractions. Shaw also earned two yellow cards late in the contest.

Shaw will now rest until Senior Day Friday, November 1st as the Bears host Virginia State. Senior Day festivities will begin at 3:00 PM followed by the Bears versus the Trojans.
