RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw volleyball team cruised to a three-set win (25-18, 25-13, 25-9) over the Livingstone Blue Bears Thursday at home at C C Spalding Gymnasium.
The victory moved the Lady Bears' record to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in CIAA action.
Talia Emmen finished with 17 kills on the day to lead the Lady Bears attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .625.Hailey Hopkins also pitched in with 10 in the contest. got 15 digs from Kalia Morris to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears cruised to an early lead, methodically winning the first set 25-18. Shaw never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Lady Bears took over in the second half of the stanza. Shaw also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Shaw won the second set 25-13 to swiftly take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bears grabbed the set propelled by a solid showing on the attacking end. Shaw put together a .310 attack percentage with 14 kills in the set win. The Lady Bears ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza. The Shaw offense also got a boost from six aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Shaw closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking the third set. TheLady Bears took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to secure a 25-9 victory. Shaw ended on a high note, claiming its biggest lead, 16 points, to close out the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from eight aces in the stanza.
