BOWIE, MD -- Shaw fell 21-7 to Bowie State on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs improved to 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play, while the Bears fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in conference matchups.
Sidney Gibbs totaled 62 yards to lead the Bears' ground attack and added one touchdown in the game, picking up 4.1 yards per carry along the way. Gibbs also tacked on 48 receiving yards.
Shaw also got a significant contribution from Donte Lee Jr., who reeled in six catches for 39 yards.
Noah Terry led the Shaw defensive effort, totaling one interception. Brian Patterson added 1.0 TFL, one sack, and one forced fumble andÂ
Shaw's defense held up against Bowie State's offense, allowing 288 total yards.
How It Happened
After Bowie State opened a 14-0 lead, Shaw responded with 14:00 left in the fourth quarter to narrow the margin to 14-7. Shaw didn't score again in the game and Bowie State added seven more points to finish off the scoring ending the comeback.
