RALEIGH, NC - The Shaw University volleyball team will host the ShawU Invitational at historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium on Friday, Sept. 15, and Saturday, Sept. 16. The cost is $10 each day for adults but students and kids can get in free.
The Lady Bears are one of four teams competing in the Invitational. The others are Saint Augustine's, Alaska Fairbanks and Mount Olive. Shaw has played Saint Augustine's and Mount Olive once this season, winning both matches.

2 p.m. - Shaw vs. Saint Augustine's

Shaw (8-2 overall, 2-0 CIAA) is on a seven-match win streak heading into Thursday's match at Claflin. The Lady Bears defeated crosstown rival Saint Augustine's 3-1 on Wednesday at home in a conference match and beat Mount Olive 3-0 last Saturday in the Mount Olive Invitational. The trio of

Lauren Janok is the CIAA assists leader.
Jasmine Culp and Patrick and the team leaders in digs and blocks, respectively.
Saint Augustine's (0-4 overall, 0-1 CIAA) has won at least one set in its four losses. The team leaders are Madison Jones (kills), Sydney Moore (digs), Nayara Pereira (digs) and Kya Otis (blocks). The Lady Falcons will play Shaw on Friday for the second time in three days in a non-conference match. In Wednesday's match, the Lady Falcons lost 3-1 to the Lady Bears.
Alaska Fairbanks (4-8 overall) is making the cross country trip to play in the ShawU Invitational. The Nanooks defeated Stanislaus State 3-1 last Saturday in its last match. They are led by Karli Nielson (kills), Ainsley Smith (assists), Grace Steurer (digs), Josie Jansen (blocks) and Elizabeth Jackson (blocks).
Mount Olive (4-4 overall) is coming off a 3-0 win over CIAA member Virginia Union on Tuesday. The Trojans played Shaw last Saturday in the Mount Olive Invitational, losing 3-0. Ashlyn Stone paces the Trojans in kills and Lyndsay Reid is the team's assist leader. Morgan Prots tops the Trojans in digs and Kate Carter and Karoline Cox are the leaders in blocks.
