RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's volleyball team opens the regular season with four matches in three days at the Frostburg State Tournament in Frostburg, Md., this weekend.
The Lady Bears start Thursday against Frostburg State, the tournament host, at 6 p.m. On Friday, Shaw faces Pitt-Johnstown at 2 p.m. before playing two matches on Saturday – Walsh (Ohio) at 9 a.m. and East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m. Each match will be livestreamed, and live stats will be available on frostburgsports.com.
The tournament will be an early season test for the Lady Bears, who reached the CIAA finals for the seventh consecutive season in 2022. Several top players return from last season's team that finished 23-8 overall – including a 15-1 CIAA mark – and captured the Northern Division title. The Lady Bears moved to the Southern Division this season with the addition of Bluefield State to the CIAA.
