ETTRICK, Va. (April 6) - The Shaw University men's tennis team defeated Virginia State twice 4-0 at the Virginia State Tennis Courts on Thursday.
The Bears improved to 3-4 overall and the Trojans dropped to 0-4.
In the first match, the trio of
Eduardo Valenca,
Tom Letecheur and
Paul Charvoz posted 8-0 victories in No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. The Bears swept doubles to score the other point. The No. 1 team of Charvoz and Letecheur won 6-1 while the No. 2 team of
Augustin Gastaldi and Valenca and the No. 3 team of
Aakashit Mahajan and
Ilya Skobelev were 6-0 winners.
In the second match, the quartet of Valenca, Gastaldi, Charvoz and
Scott Ndengoue each claimed 8-0 wins in No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Bears play again Saturday, April 8, against Averett in Danville, Va. The match begins at 1 p.m.
