RALEIGH, NC -- The Shaw Lady Bears regrouped from a Game One loss to defeat the Lincoln (PA)Â Lions 8-6 in the second game of a CIAA Northern Division doubleheader Sunday on Senior Day at Worthdale Park. Seniors Regina DeDecker and Sas'Kia Stephens were honored before the doubleheader.
GAME 2 | Shaw 8, Lincoln (PA) 6
Freshman Syhia Marks and senior Regina DeDecker each racked up three RBIs to help lead Shaw to victory.
Sophomore D'Amani Gadson (4-11) got the win for Shaw. The right-hander went 4.2 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits, allowing four walks and striking out four.
Marks went 2-for-3 at the plate in addition to her three RBIs and DeDecker put together a 2-for-3 day with a triple and a walk, supplementing her three RBI performance for the Lady Bears. Freshman Olivia Ankrom compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bears were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they put runs on the board. Shaw got on the board thanks to sophomore Nataya Truitt's RBI double with two outs.
The Lady Bears kept the deficit at 3-1 before taking the lead in the fourth. The Shaw offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of DeDecker, which brought the Lady Bears' lead to 5-3.
Lincoln (PA) narrowed Shaw's lead to 5-4 before the Lady Bears stretched the advantage to 8-4 in the sixth inning. The Lady Bears scored three runs in the frame, two of them coming across on a two-run single off the bat of Marks. Lincoln (PA) put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Shaw held on for the 8-6 win.

The Shaw Lady Bears fell in an eight-inning contest to the Lincoln (PA) Lions Sunday.
Sophomore D'Amani Gadson (3-11) got the ball to start for Shaw and took the loss. The right-hander went 3.2 innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on four hits, allowing no walks and striking out three. Freshman Syhia Marks was a bright spot for the Lady Bears, starting the ballgame and throwing 4.1 innings, giving up five runs, zero earned, on three hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Junior Bri'Anna Chavis led the way offensively for the Lady Bears, going 2-for-5 in the ballgame with a double and two RBIs. Gadson provided a noteworthy performance as well, going 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. Senior Sas'Kia Stephens also chipped in, going 1-for-3 for Shaw with two walks and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bears were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they put runs on the board. Junior Krystal Walker's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Shaw.
The score stayed at 2-2 until the fourth inning, when the Lady Bears put runs on the scoreboard once again. Shaw put together a three-run frame, culminating in a run-scoring single from freshman Ayania Williams, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Lady Bears.
Lincoln (PA) came back to even the ballgame at five before Shaw reclaimed a 6-5 advantage in the sixth inning. The Lady Bears recorded a run on Chavis' one-out RBI double.
Shaw gave up the lead it built in the sixth, but got back on the scoreboard in the eighth trailing 8-6. The Lady Bears scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Chavis, bringing the score to 8-7 in favor of Lincoln (PA). The Lady Bears were unable to get any closer, however.
