Lady Bears Trounce Averett In Road Match

DANVILLE, Va. (April 10) – The Shaw University women's tennis team took five of six singles matches and swept doubles to defeat Averett 8-1 in non-conference action on Monday.

The Lady Bears improved to 8-3 overall while Averett dropped to 9-2 overall.

Dana Moreno won No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2, Prerana Koirala claimed No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2 and Anja Antonijevic was victorious in No. 3 singles 7-5, 6-1. Jessa Michieli captured No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-0 and Hafsa Sanhaji won No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1. Chetna Kumari took her opponent to three sets before falling 6-2, 3-6, 8-10 in No. 5 singles.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Moreno and Koirala won 8-2 and the No. 2 team of Antonijevic and Sevval Ozseker won 8-3. The No. 3 team of Kumari and Michieli won 8-4.
