CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 18) - The Shaw University women's tennis team won all four matches in dominant fashion at the CIAA Roundup this weekend.
The Lady Bears did not drop a set at the event. They beat Elizabeth City State 5-0 on Friday and defeated Bowie State, Virginia State and Virginia Union by 4-0 scores on Saturday.
The group of
Anja Antonijevic,
Prerana Koirala,
Chetna Kumari and
Jessa Michielli posted 3-0 records in singles matches and
Hafsa Sanhaji was 2-0. The doubles tandem of Antonijevic/
Sevval Ozseker and Koirala/
Dana Moreno each were 2-0 in doubles. The teams of Michielli/Sanhaji and Michielli/Kumari each captured a doubles victory.
Shaw (6-2 overall, 6-0 CIAA) holds a firm grip atop the Southern Division after this weekend. The Lady Bears are the only team without a conference loss.
The Lady Bears are picking up where they left off last season. They captured their fourth straight CIAA title in 2022.
Their next match is Saturday, March 25, at home against Livingstone. The site is Worthdale Park.
