RALEIGH, NC -- The Shaw men's basketball team got a 30-point showing from the bench, but fell 74-67 to the Lincoln (PA) Lions at historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium Saturday.
The Bears (14-12, 7-7 CIAA) had three players score in double figures, led by Amir Waddell, who had 15 points and eight rebounds. Justus Baldwin tacked on 13 points off the bench and Jason Robinson chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.
Shaw out-rebounded Lincoln (PA) 29-25 in Saturday's game, paced by Waddell's eight boards.
Shaw forced 17 Lincoln (PA) turnovers. The Bears turned those takeaways into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Antonio Warner led the way individually with two steals.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 2-1 advantage, Shaw went on a 6-0 run with 17:51 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Jamari Roberts, to increase its lead to 8-1. The Bears then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 39-35.
Shaw narrowed its deficit to 58-55 before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Baldwin's three, to seize a 60-58 lead with 6:36 to go in the contest. Lincoln (PA) re-asserted control, outscoring the Bears 16-7 the rest of the way to hand Shaw the 74-67 loss. Shaw got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 20 of its 32 total points in the second half.
