RALEIGH, NC -- The Shaw volleyball team collected 18 service aces in a 3-0 CIAA quarterfinal victory (25-8, 25-10, 25-13) over the Bowie State Bulldogs Tuesday at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. The Lady Bears will play Fayetteville State in the tournament semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 18, in Bowie, Md., at 2 p.m.
The quarterfinal win pushed the Lady Bears' record to 28-5 overall. The 28 wins are the most in a season for Shaw in recent memory.
Lillian Carlson finished with 12 kills, five service aces and eight digs for the Lady Bears. She had a hitting percentage of .556.
Kamille Patrick pitched in 9 kills, seven service aces and five digs and Jasmine Culp totaled three service aces and eight digs. Lauren Janok dished out 31 assists and Maelie Chupin finished with three service aces for the Lady Bears, who leads the nation among Division II teams in aces per set.

SET 1 | The Lady Bears grabbed control of the lead at 3-2 and never looked back to win 25-8. Shaw led by as many as 18 points at 24-6 before finishing off the set. Shaw supplemented its offense with six aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Shaw carried momentum from the set-one win by securing a 25-10 victory. The Lady Bears took control early at 3-2 and held the lead the rest of the way. Shaw opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 15 points, to close out the set. Shaw got a boost from six aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Shaw took the third set to sweep the match 3-0. The Lady Bears grabbed control of the set early at 6-5 and never trailed to win 25-13. Shaw ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to close out the set. Shaw offense got a boost from six aces in the stanza.
