Lady Bears Tally .506 Attack Percentage in 3-0 Win Over Livingstone

SALISBURY, NC -- The Shaw volleyball team tallied a .506 hitting percentage on the way to a three-set win (25-18, 25-13, 25-11) over the Livingstone Blue Bears Wednesday on the road at New Trent Gym.

The victory improved the Lady Bears' record to 18-4 overall and 10-0 in CIAA play. Shaw has won eight straight matches.

Noelani Beard finished with nine kills to lead the Lady Bears offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .450. Defensively, Shaw had two players reach double figures in digs as Jasmine Culp had 15 and Beard had 13.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Bears won the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-18. Shaw led by nine points at 16-7 before closing out the set, totaling 19 kills along the way. Shaw also supplemented its offense with three aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | After its win in the first set, Shaw put itself on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-13 victory in set number two. The Lady Bears led from the first point on in the set to secure the victory. Shaw opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to finish off the set. The Lady Bears hit .419 over the course of the set.

SET 3 | Shaw finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking the third set. The Lady Bears led from the first point on in the set to secure a 25-11 victory. Shaw ended on a high note, claiming its biggest lead, 14 points, to close out the set, collecting 15 kills with a .667 attack percentage while only notching one attack error along the way. The Shaw offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.

The Lady Bears will take on Barton in a non-conference match Tuesday, Oct. 10, at historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. The match starts at 6 p.m.
