DURHAM, NC -
Elise Bosanko scored a first-half goal to lead Shaw past Edward Waters 1-0 in women's soccer action Friday at Durham County Stadium.
The Lady Bears improved to 8-3-1 overall while Edward Waters fell to 5-3-2 overall. The victory was Shaw's fourth in six games.
Bosanko scored on a deflection off an Edward Waters player on a corner kick. Her header about five yards out landed in the back net for the game's only goal. The Lady Bears limited the Tigers to seven shots while attempting 19.
The Lady Bears had more corner kicks (7-1) while the fouls were even (13-13). The Tigers were assessed two yellow cards and the Lady Bears received a yellow card.
This was the first of a four-game homestand for the Lady Bears, who will host Washington Adventist on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at WRAL Soccer Park in Raleigh, N.C. The contest starts at 1 p.m.
