SALEM, VA – The Shaw men's cross country team earned the third-place trophy at the 2023 CIAA Championships at Green Hill Park on Thursday.
The Bears scored 89 points to finish third or better for the third consecutive year. Fayetteville State won the men's title with 56 points and Virginia Union placed second with 85 points. Thirteen teams competed in the men's championship meet.
Shaw was led by the running of
Alex Kiprono,
Mathew Kiptum,
Ronald Kipkemboi and
Kevin Kiptarus. All four runners placed among the top 15 finishers to earn All-CIAA honors.
Kiprono was the highest Shaw finisher, placing seventh individually. Kiptum was 11th, Kipkemboi finished 12
th and Kiptarus placed 15
th.
