Bears Aim For Another Impressive Finish At CIAA Championships Thursday

The Bears Have Finished No Lower Than Third The Past Two Seasons
RALEIGH, NC – Shaw is looking to finish among the top three teams for the third straight year at the 2023 CIAA Cross Country Championships, which will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, in Salem, Va. The men's 8K race, starting at 1:30 p.m., will be free and open to the public at Green Hill Park.

Fans can also follow the meet via live results HERE.

The Bears will be led by Ronald Kipkemboi, Alex Kiprono and Mathew Kiptum. In 2022, Kiprono placed sixth and Kiptum finished eighth individually as the Bears took home the second-place trophy. Both runners were among the top 15 finishers who garnered All-CIAA honors.

Kiptum sparkled on the course in 2021 as he captured the men's individual 8K title. Behind his running, the Bears captured the third-place trophy.

Kipkemboi has been Shaw's fastest runner in 2023. He was first on the team in four of five races this season.
