RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw men's basketball team shot 50 percent from deep, but fell to the Elizabeth City State Vikings 95-90 at home Saturday.

The Bears (9-8, 3-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Jeremiah Pope, who had 23 points. Shayne Siago added 21 points and Jamari Roberts helped out with 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Shaw offense made hay from deep, knocking down 11 threes on 22 attempts. Pope hit seven treys for the Bears in the contest.

Shaw forced 15 Elizabeth City State turnovers while committing 13 themselves in Saturday's game. The Bears turned those takeaways into 16 points on the offensive end of the floor. Doriuntas Barnes' three steals led the way for Shaw.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 15-9 advantage, Shaw went on a 6-0 run with 15:16 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Pope, to increase its lead to 21-9. The Bears then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 50-44 advantage. Shaw relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down eight shots to account for 24 of its 50 points.

Elizabeth City State then erased the Shaw lead in the game's final half for a 95-90 comeback victory. Shaw capitalized on 11 Elizabeth City State turnovers in the half, collecting 12 points off those turnovers.
