Raleigh, NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears volleyball team entered Tuesday's match with revenge on their minds and came away successful as a strong finish helped propel the Lady Bears over the University of Mount Olive 3-1 Tuesday evening inside C.C Spaulding Gymnasium. 

Playing for the second time in a week, UMO (6-6) recently defeated Shaw (3-6) 3-0 in Mt.Olive on September 6. 

UMO took control of the match early building a 6-2 lead in the first set before Shaw rallied to tie the score at 6-6. Things remained tight until the Trojans pulled out in front 22-17 before closing out the opening stanza 25-18. The second set mirrored the first as Shaw found themselves trailing early 7-3. Facing a 23-18 deficit, a Shaw timeout proved to be the spark the Lady Bears needed as they ensued to go on a 6-1 run to even the set at 24 all. Shaw pushed in front 26-25 before back-to-back kills from Noelani Beard gave Shaw the win at 28-26. 

The rest of the match was all Lady Bears as they broke a 9-9 tie with leads of 16-12 and 20-17 before winning the third set 25-20 to inch out ahead 2-1. The fourth and final set saw the Lady Bears jump out to a 12-5 lead before maintaining control at 19-13 and 25-15 to earn the 3-1 comeback victory in their home opener. 

Beard was a force on offense finishing the match with 21 kills on 44 attempts and was one of four Lady Bears to finish with double-digit digs with 10. Ilani Myers finished with 10 kills and 13 digs. Breelyn Clark finished with a team-high 39 assists and 12 digs. Kaylin Evans also added 13 digs.

Shaw returns to action Thursday, September 15 as the Lady Bears open CIAA action against the Lincoln University (PA) Lions. First serve is slated for 6 PM inside Spaulding Gymnasium.
