Shaw Falls 76-59 To Lynn

BOCA RATON, FL --The Shaw women's basketball team got a 22-point showing from the bench, but fell 76-59 to the Lynn Fighting Knights on the road Monday.

The Lady Bears (4-7 overall) had three players score in double figures, led by Tanayja London, who had 15 points and six rebounds. Brittiney Seymour added a double-double from the bench with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Randria Anderson chipped in 13 points and five assists.

Led by Seymour's five offensive rebounds, Shaw did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 13 boards that resulted in 12 second-chance points.

The Shaw defense was effective at taking away the basketball, forcing 16 Lynn turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 15 points on the offensive end of the floor. Inari Jones led the way individually for the Lady Bears with three steals.

How It Happened

Shaw struggled out of the gate, falling behind 22-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Bears and Fighting Knights then played an even second quarter making the halftime score 42-26 in favor of Lynn.

Shaw and Lynn both put up 18 points in the third quarter, keeping the deficit even at 60-44 entering the fourth. Shaw's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled nine of the team's 18 third-quarter points.

Shaw came out of the third quarter break clicking on all cylinders, going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Makenzie Pollard's layup, to shrink the deficit to 60-51 with 7:39 to go in the contest. Lynn responded and outscored the Lady Bears the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 76-59. Shaw took advantage of five Lynn turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of those takeaways.

» The Lady Bears put on a passing clinic, recording an assist on 60 percent of made field goals.
» Seymour's 12 rebounds were a game high.
