Shaw Topples Salem (W.Va.) To End Regular Season On Four-Game Win Streak

DURHAM, N.C. (Nov. 2) – Shaw University concluded the regular season on a winning note as the Lady Bears defeated Salem (W.Va.) 4-0 in women's soccer at Durham County Stadium on Wednesday.

The victory, their fourth in a row, pushed the Lady Bears' record to 6-8-3 overall. Salem fell to 3-10-3 overall.

In October, both teams played to a scoreless tie in Beckley, W.Va. On Wednesday, the Lady Bears took charge with Ana Schardong leading the way. Schardong scored two goals as Shaw opened a 3-0 first-half lead. Johanna Lillja also scored in the first half and Jasmine Blake assisted on one of Schardong's goals.

Laura Di Mascio added an insurance goal in the second half for the Lady Bears, who outshot Salem 16-2.
