Box Score Raleigh, NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears volleyball team continued their stronghold on first place in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Division with an impressive 3-1 win over the host Elizabeth City State University Vikings Thursday night inside the R.L. Vaughan Center.
The Lady Bears dropped the opening set 29-27 before responding in the hostile road environment to win the next three sets by the scores of 25-18, 25-23, and again 25-23.
With the win, the Lady Bears improve to 15-5 overall, 14-1 CIAA, and 9-0 in the division. ECSU falls to 25-5 overall and 12-3 in CIAA play.
Mallory Brown was again a force for the Shaw offense that saw four different Lady Bear register double-digit kills with Brown leading the way with 15 followed by Kamille Patrick with 14, Paige Worden with 13, and Noelani Beard with 10. Setter Breelyn Clark tallied a season-high 52 assists and also led Shaw on defense with 19 digs followed by Kaylin Evans with 17 and Jessica Kelley and Worden with 11. The Lady Bears finished with 12 service aces.
The Lady Bears return to action on Monday, November 8 as they host Lincoln University (PA) for senior night. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
