Lady Bears Drop Championship Match Against Broncos

Bowie, MD - The Shaw University volleyball team gave a valiant effort but couldn't overcome a powerful Fayetteville State attack as they fell 3-0 in the 2021 CIAA Volleyball Championship match Sunday inside A.C. Jordan Arena in Bowie, MD.

 

Shaw fell in straight sets by the scores of 25-16, 27-25, and 25-23. The Lady Bears season ends at 18-6 overall.

 

Noelani Beard led the way on offense with 12 kills followed by Kamille Patrick with seven and Mallory Brown with six. Breelyn Clark was credited with 28 assists on the match. Defensively, three Lady Bears were credited with double-digit digs with Kaylin Evans finishing with 13 followed by Brown and Clark with 10 each.

 

Shaw finished with a .142 hitting percentage compared to .182 by FSU. The Lady Bears also had a tough day serving finishing with 13 service errors while the Broncos only committed three errors.
