Box Score Raleigh, NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears volleyball team maintained first place in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Division with a 3-0 sweep over the visiting Bowie State Bulldogs Monday night inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
Shaw won the sets by the scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-16. With the win, the Lady Bears improve to 14-5 overall, 13-1 CIAA and 8-0 in the division. BSU drops to 4-15 overall and 2-10 in CIAA action.
The Lady Bears limited BSU to a .035 hitting percentage for the entire match with their best hitting performance being just .118 during the second set. Shaw finished the contest with a .425 hitting percentage with their best mark also coming in the second set at .600.
Mallory Brown paced Shaw with 16 kills during the contest followed by Kamille Patrick with nine. Kaylin Evans led the defensive charge with seven digs followed by Paige Worden and Noelani Beard with five each. Setter Breelyn Clark tossed in 30 assists on the match. As a team, the Lady Bears also finished with an impressive 12 service aces.
Shaw takes a quick break before returning to the court Wednesday, November 3 for a crucial divisional match against Elizabeth City State University. Shaw won the first matchup last Monday evening 3-0 in Raleigh. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. in Elizabeth City, NC.
