PEMBROKE, N.C. – Senior Saraya Klink (Fuquay-Varina, NC) led the Shaw with 11 kills while senior Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, VI) added nine kills on a .429 hitting percentage and four blocks to lead the Shaw University women's volleyball team to its first win of the season, a sweep over UNC Pembroke on Friday morning at the UNC Pembroke Invitational.

Set scores were 27-25, 25-23 and 25-15 in favor of Shaw, which got another great outing from senior Michelle Olmeda-Gonzalez (San Juan, PR) who dished out 17 assists and 13 digs. The win puts the Lady Bears 1-4 overall, while the Braves also stand 1-4 on the season.

Shaw hit .364 in the match, buoyed by stellar attacking in the second and third sets with a .389 in the second set and then .485 hitting percentage in the third stanza. In addition to Shaw's strong offense, the Lady Bears combined for 43 digs led by Olmeda-Gonzalez. Freshman Jada Flowers (Valrico, FL) contributed a career-best 10 digs while senior Kelly Murphy (Mukwonago, WI) tabbed nine stops.

Shaw will close out day one of the tournament with a match versus Coker at 1 p.m.
