GOODMAN SIGNS PRO CONTRACT WITH STAPAC JAKARTA OF INDONESIA

RALEIGH, N.C.   Former Shaw University standout Savon Goodman of the men's basketball team has signed a professional contract in Asia with Stapac Jakarta of Indonesia. Stapac Jakarta competes in Indonesia's IBL Basketball League. Indonesia IBL is a FIBA professional basketball league comprised of 10 professional teams throughout Indonesia.

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Goodman played one season for the Bears basketball program where he helped guide Shaw to a 20-9 overall season and 12-4 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and a Southern Division title. He led the team in rebounds with 9.6 rebounds per game (2nd in the CIAA) while putting up 18.0 points per outing (team's second best).

The All-CIAA forward also led Shaw in field goal percentage and ranked third amongst the CIAA at 57.1-percent.Goodman registered 11 double-doubles last season, including 14 games with at least 10 rebounds and 24 games in double digit scoring. His best game of the 2017-18 campaign was a 36-point performance to go along with 15 rebounds against Washington Adventist.

Additionally, Goodman garnered CIAA Newcomer of the Week five times and received CIAA Player of the Week once.

Goodman earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Arizona State University in 2016.

Stapac currently stands 3-1 on the young season as Goodman averages 18.0 points and 15.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.
