RALEIGH, NC - The Shaw University women's volleyball team extended its school record winning streak to 13 matches straight with a 3-0 win over crosstown rival Saint Augustine's University Thursday night in front of a packed house at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium for its annual Dig Pink contest.

The Lady Bears won 25-11, 25-14 and 25-15 to its record to 13-5 overall, 10-0 in the CIAA and 4-0 in the Southern Division.

In the opening set, Shaw jumped out to quick leads of 4-0 and 9-3 before forcing a SAU timeout as the Lady Bears led 14-5. Following the timeout, the Lady Bears pushed its lead to 22-11 before closing out the set for the 25-11 victory.

Similar to the first, Shaw started with quick 4-1 and 8-2 lead in the second frame. SAU would then go on a 6-1 run to trim the Lady Bears lead to 9-8, forcing a Lady Bears timeout. The timeout proved beneficial as Shaw then pushed their lead to 13-9 before forcing a Lady Falcons timeout with the Lady Bears leading 22-12. Shaw would seal the deal with a 25-14 win.

SAU struck first in the third set before the Lady Bears responded with a 7-1 run for a comfortable 7-2 lead. The Lady Falcons cut the deficit 11-7 before a kill from CIAA Rookie of The Week – Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, LA) sparked a Shaw run. The Lady Bears would force another SAU timeout while holding a 19-12 lead.  Shaw claimed the third set with another kill from Moten for the 25-15 win and the 3-0 sweep.

The Lady Bears have now swept its opponents by the score of 3-0, 10 out of its last 13 matches. Shaw has won 39 sets during the 13 match winning-streak while only dropping four.

Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, VI) led the Lady Bears with 11 kills. CIAA Player of the Week - Kelly Murphy (Mukwonago, WI) followed with seven kills and a team-best eight digs while Morghan Robinson (Anaheim, CA) added six kills.
