LADY BEARS SWEEP BOWIE STATE 3-0

LINCOLN, Pa.  – Keveesha Wattley (St. Croix, VI) tallied 12 kills to lead the Shaw University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Bowie State University on Sunday afternoon to conclude the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Round-Up hosted by Lincoln (Pa.) University.

 

With the win, Shaw improves to 17-9 overall and 10-3 in the league, while Bowie State falls to 7-21 overall and 3-11 in the conference.

 

Kelly Murphy (Mukwonago, WI) chipped in eight kills and Michelle Olmeda-Gonzalez (San Juan, PR) set the tone dishing out 30 assists.

 

The Lady Bears held the Lady Bulldogs to a hitting percentage of .027 for the game, including a .033 percentage in the first set as SU claimed the win 25-16.

 

In the second set, BSU registered just five kills off of 19 total attacks as the Lady Bears controlled momentum in route to the 25-15 win before closing out set three 25-14 in similar fashion.

 

The Lady Bears will return to action on Monday, Nov. 2nd as they welcome the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University for a Southern Divisional showdown. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. in CC Spaulding Gymnasium.
