ROCKY MOUNT, NC.- The Shaw men's tennis team bounced back from an early season loss to Chowan with a 7-2 victory Wednesday.
Shaw took an early 2-1 lead in doubles play. At number one doubles, Charles Silva and Sergio Cuartas defeated Pedro Aiala and Danilo Galovic 9-7. Bach Tran and Juan Sanchez defeated Ivan Doubograev and Farid Hajizada at number two doubles 8-6.
The Bears triumphed in singles play, dominating 5-1.
Cuartas won over Aiala at number two singles 6-4, 7-6, while Tran defeated Galovic 6-3, 6-1.
Sanchez handed Tristan Martin a 6-1, 6-0 loss at number four singles. Gafur Sirojiddinov also dominated at number five singles, beating Sasha Kirsanov 6-2, 6-2. Andre Monti closed out at number six singles, defeating Doubograev 6-2, 7-5.
The Bears return to action Friday April 11 at 2:00 p.m. when they travel to North Carolina Central.
