DURHAM, NC- With offense struggling to gain yardage, Shaw University fell to #11 Winston-Salem State, 61-10, Saturday afternoon at Durham County Stadium.

With the loss, Shaw falls 3-6, while the Rams of Winston-Salem State remain undefeated in the CIAA and improve 8-1 overall.

The Bears only managed to get 16 yards on the ground and six yards in passing.

The Rams took to the board very quickly scoring 21 points in the first quarter.

Second quarter the Bears showed a little life as Marquise Grizzle rushed in from 5 yards out to give Shaw its only touchdown of the game. Ian Burris with the PAT put the Bears at 21-7.

Winston's Alfy Hill would score two points for the Rams off of a safety.

6:57 remaining in the second quarter, Burris kicked a good field goal giving the Bears an extra three points bringing the score 23-10. Those would be the only points Shaw would put on the board for the remainder of the game.

Winston-Salem would go on to score another 38 unanswered points and would take the game 61-10.

Defensively Shaw was led by Derrick Washington who had a total of ten tackles, six solo and four unassisted. Chris Ellerbe recorded five solo and tackle assisted. N'Gal Tillman, Dwight Campbell and Keelan Jones each had a total of five tackles; four solo and one assisted.

Next Saturday, the Bears play cross-town rival Saint Augustine's at the George Williams Athletic Complex on Saint Augustine's Campus; kickoff is at 1pm.
