Lady Bears Swept by Johnson C. Smith 3-0

Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. - An undermanned Shaw volleyball squad battled, but fell in straight sets to Johnson C. Smith in a match played at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium Monday night.

The Lady Golden Bulls won the first set 24-14 and the second 25-6.  The Lady Bears opened the third by taking an early lead, but eventually fell 25-18.  Shaw drops to 1-8 on the season while JCSU improves to 6-4.

Shaw has a number of injured players, so the Lady Bears could only dress six for the  match.

Briana Wilson and Tyler Page had two kills apiece to lead the Lady Bears.  Michelle Oliver had four assists and a service ace, while Wilson and Page had two digs apiece to pace the squad.

The Lady Bears return to action Sunday when they travel to Fayetteville State to face Bowie State at the CIAA Round Up.  They next return home on October 10 when they host cross-town rival Saint Augustine's.
