RALEIGH, NC - The Shaw men's tennis team downed visiting Shepherd 6-3 in a game played Thursday afternoon at Biltmore Hills Park.

Play opened with the doubles matches.  Shaw defaulted on the number three match because they were short handed, but swept the remaining two matches.  Charles Silva and Sergio Cuartas combined to defeat Chris Pratt and Taylor Boyle 8-4 at the number one doubles spot.  At number two doubles, Juan Sanches and Samuel Padilla defeated Michael and Steven Lesko 8-0.

Cuartas and Sanchez secured two-set victories for the Bears at number two and three singles, respectively.  Silva and Andre Monti brought home three-set victories at number one and four singles, respectively.  Padilla dropped hit match at number five singles 6-4, 6-4.

The win improves the Shaw record to 4-1 on the season.  They next take the court on March 10 when they travel to Charlotte for a match against Johnson C. Smith.
