Shaw Drops Three Straight Sets to Livingstone

Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Shaw volleyball team were swept by Livingstone, 3-0, in a match played Thursday evening at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.

The Lady Bears lost the sets 25-22, 25-13 and 25-16.

Shaw fell behind early in the first set, trailing 7-1 after early play.  They fought back, though, building a lead of their own 14-8 on a killl by Sashane Watson.  That run seemed to use all of the Lady Bears' energy, as the Lady Blue Bears fought back, took the lead, and closed out the set 25-22.

From that point forward, the match belonged to Livingstone as they nearly doubled Shaw's score in a 25-13 second set, and were never threatened in a 25-16 third set win.

With the win, Livingstone improves to 11-4, 2-4 in the CIAA.  Shaw drops to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

The Lady Bears take to the road, travelling to Fayetteville, N.C., to take part in the second CIAA Volleyball Roundup of the season,.  They return home Thursday, October 4 when they host Fayetteville State.  The match will be held at 6:00 p.m. at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium on Shaw's campus.  The event is free and open to the public.
