After a rough second set, the Lady Bears came out in the third and held their own, tying the score at 4-4 early. But midway into the set, the Lady Rams reeled off seven straight points to build an 11-4 lead. From there, the Lady Bears matched WSSU point-for-point, but could not overcome that deficit.
Crystal Gordon led Shaw with five kills and nine digs. Cortnee Kelly had 11 assists. The Bears got one player - Jeneva Carner - back from injury in today's game, giving them seven healthy players on the roster.
The Lady Bears return to action Friday when they host Morris in a non-conference match at 6:00 p.m. in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. On Saturday, the Lady Bears host a tri-match with Fayetteville State and Wingate. Shaw will play at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
