Sept. 8 - Winston-Salem, NC) - The Lady Bears volleyball team opened the season short staffed and on the road, and fell in straight sets to Winston-Salem State, 3-0.

The Lady Rams took the first set 25-8 and both the second and the third 25-11.

Sharetta Riggins led Shaw with six kills while Ashley Johnson had seven assists. Kennay Fleming had two services aces.

Shaw has only one day off, then returns to Winston-Salem on Friday for the first half of the CIAA Volleyball Roundup for two days of matches. The completion of the Roundup, to be held at Fayetteville State, will be held Sept. 17-19.

The Lady Bears open their home season Wednesday, September 15 with a 6:00 p.m. match against Johnson C. Smith at C. C. Spaulding Gymnasium. All volleyball games are free and open to the public.
