(RALEIGH, NC)- After a lackluster start, Shaw's Lady Bears found their game in the second set, but failed to capitalize on both their momentum and numerous Livingstone mistakes, and dropped the match 3-1 to the Lady Blue Bears.

The Lady Bears (3-13, 3-12 CIAA) have only won two of their last 18 sets in match play, a span of seven games.

The Lady Bears dropped close matches in the third and fourth game to lose 11-25, 26-24, 25-27, and 21-25 to the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears (11-12, 7-8 CIAA) volleyball team in a match played at Spaulding Gymnasium.

Shaw came out flat in the first game with communication errors and lack of execution. Livingstone opened up the first game on a six-point service rally taking the commanding lead early, 11-3. The Lady Blue Bears went on to easily claim the first game, 25-11.

Shaw came out with a vengeance in the second game and outlasted Livingstone, 26-24. Lady Bear senior, Jade Bibb, helped the Lady Bears close out the second game on her serves.

In the third game, every bounce of the ball seemed to end in a Livingstone error. Shaw was led early on by their freshman, Michelle Oliver, on her two spectacular blocks. Senior leader Sharetta Riggins had 21 kills on the night with the majority of them coming in the third game.

But, the Lady Bears could not hold the upper hand as Livingstone closed a seven-point deficit and took an 18-17 lead.

Livingstone carried the momentum in to the fourth game where they capitalized on Shaw mistakes and outmuscled them to a decisive victory, led by Natalia Felix's six-point service rally.

Shaw was led offensively by Riggins, who had more than half of the team's 41 kills, and defensively by freshmen Jeneva Carner's 10 digs out of the team's 32.

On the other end of the court, Livingstone was led offensively by their senior Lashaundra Ferguson who accumulated 20 of the teams 40 kills.

The Lady Bears play their next game on Wednesday, October 27 at 6 p.m. on the campus of Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, where they meet the Lady Falcons for the second time this season.
