Bacchus Grant enters his first season as the first head coach of the Women’s Flag Football program. A former athlete with a background in coaching, personal training, and skill development, Grant brings a passion for empowering student-athletes and building a culture of excellence both on and off the field.
Grant currently serves as the Director of Student Success and Retention at Shaw University, where he leads initiatives focused on student engagement, academic persistence, and overall student achievement. In this role, he works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to develop programs and strategies that support student success from enrollment through graduation. Grant is committed to creating meaningful student experiences that foster personal growth, leadership development, and a strong sense of belonging within the university community.
As the leader of Shaw’s Women’s Flag Football program, Grant will oversee the development and growth of the university’s newest athletic program. His vision is centered on creating a competitive, disciplined, and supportive environment where student-athletes can thrive academically, athletically, and personally.
In addition to his student retention and collegiate coaching responsibilities, Grant is a coach and co-operator of a youth sports development academy dedicated to helping young athletes reach their full potential through structured training, mentorship, and character development. Focused on athletic development, the academy provides young athletes with the skills, discipline, confidence, and leadership foundation necessary for success in sports and beyond.
Drawing from his experience as an athlete, coach, and personal trainer, Grant is dedicated to establishing a championship-caliber culture while creating a lasting impact on the lives of the student-athletes he serves. As women’s flag football continues its rapid growth across the country, his leadership will position Shaw University as a premier destination for aspiring student-athletes.
