RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University Athletics has announced the addition of Morgan Devane as assistant athletic trainer, bringing a diverse background in high school, collegiate and professional sports to the Bears' sports medicine staff.
Devane begins her first year at Shaw after completing her Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Connecticut in May 2025. Prior to her graduate studies, she earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Oregon State University in 2023.
Throughout her academic and clinical career, Devane has gained experience across multiple levels of competition, including high school athletics, NCAA Division I, II and III programs, and professional sports organizations. Her broad training background provides a well-rounded perspective in injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation.
During her time as an athletic training student, Devane worked with the Carolina Hurricanes, gaining firsthand experience in a professional hockey environment. She was later featured in the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society newsletter, where she reflected on her experience working with the NHL organization and the insight it provided into elite-level sports performance and care.
At Shaw, Devane will assist in the daily medical coverage and care of student-athletes, including injury prevention strategies, rehabilitation programs and game-day coverage.
