Bears Fall At Home To Chowan 5-2

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Shaw men's tennis team fell to Chowan 5-2 at Worthdale Park on Tuesday.

The Bears dropped to 1-4 overall while Chowan upped its record to 1-12 overall.

Eduardo Valenca was the singles winner for Shaw. He defeated Santino Jose Sormani 6-4, 6-3 in No. 2 singles.

Valenca teamed with Augustin Gastaldi to beat Hesley Masara and Anesu Kwirirai 7-5 in No. 2 doubles. The Bears tandem of Aakashit Mahajan and Ilya Skobelev beat Michael Correa and Alvaro Juscamaita 6-2 in No. 3 doubles to give Shaw its other point.

The Bears play again Thursday, March 30, against Shepherd in Shepherdstown, W. Va. The match begins at 1 p.m.

The women's tennis match scheduled today between Shaw and Chowan was postponed.
