BEARS FALL TO FAIRMONT STATE, 7-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University men's tennis dropped a 7-0 decision to Fairmont State Wednesday afternoon at Worthdale Park.

 

The loss dips the Bears to 1-4 overall while Fairmont State improves to 2-1 on the year.

 

The Bears dropped all three doubles to trail the Falcons 1-0 heading into singles play. Fairmont State swept all six singles matches despite three Bears taking their opponents to three sets before falling. Sophomore Romain Hennebelle (Montijny-Lengrain, France) fell 1-6, 6-3, 4-6 at the No. 1 position while senior Diego Leal (Bucaramanga, Columbia) suffered a 5-7, 6-1, 5-7 loss at the No. 2 singles and senior Destiny Udofe (Brampton, ON) succumbed 7-6, 5-7, 3-6 at the No. 4 slot.

 

Shaw will return to action on Sunday, Mar. 15 at Averett College in Danville, Va. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
