BEARS TENNIS FALLS TO WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN, 7-2

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University men's tennis team fell to the visiting West Virginia Wesleyan, 7-2 on Wednesday, Mar. 7 at Worthdale Park. The loss dip to 0-2 to start the 2018 season while the Bobcats improve to 4-1 on the year.

 

The Bears went 0-3 in doubles competition before Oscar Del Granado (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) tallied a hard fought 6-3, 1-6 and 10-6 at the No. 1 singles. Junior Ngonidzashe Makambwa (Mabelreign Harare, Zimbabwe) won 6-3 and 6-2 at the No. 2 singles but ultimately that would not be enough as the Bobcats secured wins at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

 

Shaw will return to action on Friday, Mar. 9 versus Fairmont State. The match will be played at Worthdale Park with a first serve slated for 4 p.m.
